The Rinks-Yorba Linda ICE’s “Figure Skating Camp” is open to Figure Skaters at level “Freestyle 1” and above, and ages 5 to 18.
This summer, we are thrilled to host Sarah Kawahara’s, “Pallette of Choreography” workshop during our 3 day camp on Tuesday July 11th, 2017. Sarah Kawahara is a world renowned choreographer (Bio below) who has worked with Olympic and National champions around the world, and is known for finding and developing hidden treasures of movement in skaters, helping to create a signature style unique to the individual skater. Each participant will have the opportunity to explore inspiration and own their performance. They will have fun and enjoy having color added to their repertoire, expanding the way they think, their perception, and increasing their vocabulary of movement.
Camp Dates: July 10, 11, 12
Over 4 hours of on and off-ice instruction each day incl: jumps, spins, choreography, power stroking, edges, moves in the field, and off- ice strength, stretch, ballet and nutrition.
More than 2.5 hours of freestyle/public session time each day.
Skaters will attend camp from 8am to 2pm. (Check in 7:45am). All Campers are allowed to skate the public session after camp from 2pm to 4:30, however they are only supervised from 8am-2pm.

Sarah Kawahara is a Canadian born director/choreographer well known for her television and touring show productions. She is a 2 time Emmy award winner for best choreography for CBS’s “Scott Hamilton: Upside Down” , for NBC’s “ Opening Ceremonies of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games” in Salt Lake City and also received the American Choreography Award for Outstanding Achievement in Television Variety or Special for the “Opening Ceremony-Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games”. Recently an inductee of the Skate Canada Hall of Fame Class of 2016. At age 17, she joined Ice Capades as a principal and toured for seven years. She began her choreography career with Peggy Fleming, creating “ICE” for Radio CIty Music Hall/ Shipstad Productions. She went on to choreograph Scott Hamilton’s numbers until he retired. Her career has taken her into film with Dreamworks “Blades of Glory” and numerous TV Specials for Scott Hamilton, Michelle Kwan, Nancy Kerrigan,Toller Cranston, and John Curry. Other clients include Kurt Browning, Ilia Kulik, Kristi Yamaguchi, Dorothy Hamill, Robin Cousins, Charlie Tickner,Torvill and Dean, Surya Bonaly, Chen Lu,Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner, Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov, Oksana Baiul, Marina Klimova and Sergei Ponomarenko, Victor Petrenko, Pang Qing and Tong Jian. Currently running live shows are with Royal Carribean Cruiselines for Bietak Productions, Disney on Ice and Broadway on Ice.
